Kellia – The Risk of the Desert

Kellia – The Risk of the Desert is a cooperative strategy game for 2–4 players aged 12 and up, transporting players to 4th century Egypt. There, they take on the roles of early Christian Desert Fathers and Mothers who have settled in simple hermit huts – called Kellia – in the harsh desert landscape.

The focus of the game is on communal life under difficult conditions. Players must support each other to gather food, maintain their huts, and manage limited resources wisely. At the same time, the desert repeatedly presents unexpected challenges that can only be overcome through good cooperation and smart decisions. Beyond mere survival, inner qualities also play an important role: patience, perseverance, and a sense of community are crucial for success in the game.

Kellia combines strategic thinking with cooperation and historical inspiration. It playfully offers insight into the beginnings of Christian monasticism and invites players to take responsibility together and overcome difficult situations as a group.

The game includes a game board, cards, game pieces, dice, resource tokens, as well as a rulebook and other accessories, and was illustrated by the Brothers of the Taizé Community.
